Riverside is the largest city in the Inland Empire and the Riverside County seat. Downtown centers on the Mission Inn and the Main Street pedestrian mall, and UC Riverside sits on the east side of town.
The housing runs from 1910s–30s homes near downtown to 1990s and 2000s tracts on the southeast side, with larger ranch lots out west.
The honest take
Riverside is really several markets in one city. A historic bungalow near downtown and a newer tract home in Orangecrest sell to different buyers at different prices, so it helps to work with an agent who knows the specific neighborhood.
Schools
Riverside Unified covers most of the city. Parts of the west side, including La Sierra, are in Alvord Unified, and a small part is in Moreno Valley Unified, so check the district for the exact address.
About Riverside
What's the commute like?
The 91 and the 60 are the main routes west, and the 215 runs north–south through town. Metrolink has three stations in the city: Riverside-Downtown, Riverside-La Sierra and Riverside-Hunter Park/UCR.
Where should I start looking?
Start with how you want to live: walkable and older near downtown, or newer and quieter on the southeast side. Ask the office to match you with an agent who works that part of Riverside.
