San Bernardino sits where the 10, 215 and 210 come together, right at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains. It's the county seat, and Cal State San Bernardino is on the north end.
Neighborhoods range from mid-century streets in the middle of the city to newer homes toward the Cajon Pass and hillside homes along the foothills.
The honest take
San Bernardino varies block by block more than most cities around it. The foothill neighborhoods and the golf-course areas are a different market from the middle of town, and a local agent can show you where the market changes.
Schools
Mostly San Bernardino City Unified. A few edges of the city are served by neighboring districts, so check the district for the exact address.
About San Bernardino
What's the commute like?
The 10, 215 and 210 all run through the city. Metrolink has three stations in the city: the San Bernardino Depot, San Bernardino-Downtown at the Transit Center, and San Bernardino-Tippecanoe. The Arrow line runs east to Redlands.
How close are the mountains?
Very close. The roads up to Lake Arrowhead and the rest of the mountain communities start at the north edge of the city.
